5/22/2024 - Puppies went for a vet visit this past Tuesday, everything went great and of course they got tons of "oooh's" & "aww's" from the vet staff. They've been perfect in their whelping pen going in their designated potty spot (potty pads currently). I just enlarged their area more so I hope they keep it up. Mamma Sadie finally got the official boot from being in their pen with them 24/7. She honestly would have stayed with them forever and is such a devoted mom but if we let that continue it will make their transitions that much harder. These next few days we will do a LOT more in-crate work and see if they will take to walking on the leash. Our bigger breeds I usually have walking on a leash by now but their tiny size adds some complication. Please reach out to schedule a day & time for pickup.

5/12/2024 - Puppies got their first baths the other day, they did a great job and seemed to enjoy the warm water. They're SO active and playful, they're a hoot to watch. This week we will gradually begin weaning, however they've been eating mom's kibble (same puppy food they will eat anyways) for this past week so other than the emotional part for Sadie & babies it should go really well. They were dewormed again today. This week we will do more puppy culture exercises, work with kennel training a touch, and hopefully continue to succeed potty training.

5/5/2024 - These little ones have been so active! Playing, wagging, jumping out of their section of the whelping box (fixed it). Like any dachshund I've met they all love to cuddle and are so, so sweet. In the last week we've added a few small, safe toys to their home and they went bananas. We will microchip them soon and schedule ahead for their vet check-up around week 6/7.

4/27/2024 - The babies are growing so fast and becoming so much more active and "puppy-like". They're finding their voices and becoming very playful with one another. The cutest thing right now is that if they're awake, their tails are constantly wagging.  Tomorrow they will be given their second round of dewormer.

I also chose some random, cute names to assign them just for posting and record-keeping. I don't call them by these names so they're just temporary.

4/22/2024 - I'm definitely overdue on posting pictures so thank you for bearing with me. We had a pretty eventful weekend (all great things). Since the last update the puppies have all opened their eyes and are alert & active. They were given their first deworming on April 13th. They are a very quiet, calm, and cuddly litter. Every time I interact with them they are well receptive to the attention and hardly whine at all (most really young puppies whine when being handled/picked up). Mamma Sadie is doing such a beautiful job keeping them fed and clean--she's been a very calm mom so I believe her energy is felt by the litter making them feel comfortable & relaxed. We're so proud of how well she's doing as a first time mom!
